Geovani — AI Assistant
Use Geovani, GeoSheet's built-in AI assistant, to write formulas, create charts, geocode addresses, analyze spatial data, and automate spreadsheet tasks.
Geovani™ is GeoSheet's built-in AI assistant, powered by Claude. With 40+ specialized tools, it can read and write your data, create charts, perform spatial analysis, control maps, and help you work faster.
Getting Started
Click the Geovani button (floating circle, bottom-right corner) to open the chat panel. Type your request in natural language.
Example Requests
Data manipulation:
- "Add a header row with Name, Address, Revenue, Region"
- "Sort the data by revenue, highest first"
- "Fill column D with a VLOOKUP from Sheet2"
Charts:
- "Create a bar chart of revenue by region"
- "Make a map showing all the store locations"
- "Add a pie chart of market share"
Spatial analysis:
- "Geocode all the addresses in column B"
- "Calculate driving distance from HQ to each store"
- "Which stores are within 30 minutes of downtown?"
- "Create a 15-minute isochrone around the warehouse"
Formatting:
- "Bold the header row and add a light blue background"
- "Format column C as currency"
- "Add data validation to column D — only allow numbers 1-10"
Contexts
Geovani works in two contexts:
Dashboard Context
Available from the dashboard. Can:
- Create, list, and delete spreadsheets
- Manage workspaces
- Open spreadsheets (with conversation continuation)
- List members and deleted items
- Create spreadsheets from templates
Spreadsheet Context
Available inside any spreadsheet. Full access to:
- Read and write cells, apply formatting
- Create and configure charts (line, bar, pie, area, map)
- Spatial analysis (geocoding, routing, distance, isochrones)
- Data validation and conditional formatting
- Named ranges and filters
- Fetch external data from URLs
- Access the spatial data catalog
Cross-Context Continuation
When Geovani opens a spreadsheet from the dashboard, the conversation continues seamlessly — context carries over so Geovani remembers what you were discussing. The unified context system ensures smooth transitions with no loss of conversation history.
Tool Capabilities
Geovani has 40+ tools organized by context:
Dashboard tools (12): create, list, open, and delete GeoSheets; manage workspaces; list members; browse templates; access recycle bin.
Spreadsheet tools (35+): read/write cells (including batch operations), apply formatting, create charts, perform spatial analysis (geocoding, routing, distance, isochrones), set data validation, manage named ranges, fetch external data, access the spatial data catalog, and control map views.
Planning Mode
For complex multi-step operations, Geovani proposes a plan before executing:
- Geovani analyzes your request
- Presents a step-by-step plan card
- You click Approve or Cancel
- If approved, Geovani executes all steps
This gives you visibility and control over operations that modify large amounts of data.
Proactive Suggestions
Geovani observes your activity and offers contextual suggestions when it detects patterns:
| Pattern | Suggestion |
|---|---|
| Column of addresses | "Geocode these addresses?" |
| Adjacent lat/lon columns | "Combine into POINT values?" |
| Column of points, no map | "Create a map chart?" |
| Repeated formula pattern | "Fill the rest of the column?" |
| Cascade of errors | "Fix the root cause cell?" |
| Column of raw numbers | "Format as currency/percentage?" |
Suggestions appear as a compact card above the Geovani button. Click Do it to execute, Dismiss to close, or Don't show again to suppress that type.
Memory
Geovani has memory that persists across sessions:
Spreadsheet Memory
Remembers context specific to each spreadsheet — data structure, previous operations, your preferences for that sheet.
Global Memory
Remembers preferences and patterns across all your spreadsheets.
Saved Workflows
Save reusable instruction sets for common operations. Ask Geovani to "Save this as a workflow called 'Monthly Report Setup'", then later "Run the Monthly Report Setup workflow".
Map Control
Geovani can control map charts directly:
- "Zoom the map to show just Europe"
- "Pan to show the New York area"
- "Fit the map to show all data points"
- "Toggle the stores layer off"
Map control commands execute instantly without a follow-up response.
Tips
- Be specific: "Create a bar chart of column C grouped by column A" works better than "make a chart"
- Reference cells: "Put the total in cell E1" is more precise than "add a total somewhere"
- Batch operations: Geovani handles batch operations efficiently — "Geocode all 500 addresses" uses optimized batch writes
- Ask for help: "What formulas can I use for spatial analysis?" — Geovani knows all 140+ functions
- Iterate: After Geovani creates something, refine it: "Change the chart colors", "Add a title", "Sort descending"
